No mention of MS-12106 on the jug or any other manufacturer spec for that matter, but a nice sentence about how it is compatible with ALL vehicules. Was doing some garage cleaning yesterday and stumbled onto a full jug of *Peak Extended Life* 50/50 I had bought for the 2005 Liberty a couple years ago, when its water pump started to leak. Use of mineral rich tap water could cause corrosive failure down the road. So if you do your own mixing, you should always use distilled water, possibly highly demineralized water is Ok too. The water you put in the radiator has an impact on corrosion. The water : the SAE article mentions it and Array pointed it out. Do not mix HOAT coolant in there with OAT, no matter the formula, because your coolant will turn to sludge. In almost all cases, the OAT coolant is orange. HOAT is normally yellow in color, but you can also find it in purple, blue, pink or turquoise. When topping off, two important things to watch for : The most obvious difference between the two is the color. but possibly to work with/meet different regulations in North America vs Europe (Fiat sells way more in Europe). The Fiat coolant is made by Petronas Lubricants and Chrysler purple is made by CCI Manufacturing. ![]() so yeah, the purple stuff does not stay purple and it is normal. ![]() No clear explanation except probable chemical interactions with surfaces it cools, breakdown, some contamination, etc. I've read on many forums (RAM, Challenger, etc.) that it turns pinkish, maybe even orangy, after a while. Our coolant (MS-12106) is purple when new. ![]() Ok I'll do my best, from what I've read left and right. I guess the Mopar stuff isn't that expensive anymore (it was a few years ago), so unless we have confirmation that any other coolant meets the spec, sticking with the Mopar sounds pretty good.Įdit to add : just to mention that *Prestone* actually sells different coolants for different applications, like "Dex-Cool" which seems to be tailor made for GM : RAVENOL LTC coolant is an eco-friendly 1.2- Ethanediol (monoethylene glycol) based formula based on a proven inhibitor development by combining silicates with the organic additive technology OAT as an extended life coolant. We've found litterature for both of those online that shows MS-12106, but nothing (yet) on the jugs themselves and no confirmation on any Chrysler/Jeep/RAM/Dodge/Fiat forums that those are compatible. Ravenol Coolant Antifreeze LTC Premix 5L. *New* Prestone Longer Life with Cor-Guard : Here are the two OAT extended life coolants I'm talking about : Is it written on the jug ? I'm asking because we had a discussion going here somewhere last week about this subject, and two brands other than Mopar that advertized MS-12106, but neither does so on the jugs themselves, or at least no one has reported seeing it yet.
